Make sure you get a pre turbo egt gauge installed so you don't destroy your turbo and maybe motor. It was feasible for me because I put several miles on the road. My truck isn't a Ford, but I put a programmer on it and it took roughly 70,000 miles to pay for itself. If you buy a programmer new, it will not pay for itself for several miles. Running on the highest setting also has the biggest chance of destroying something. It's not uncommon for the highest setting to have the best mileage because the highest setting usually has the most timing. The air box and exhaust made it run better and the chip was too much for a chore truck. I had a dp tuner on my 7.3 at 80hp or 40hp or stock. More fuel means you need an air box and exhaust to compliment it to get full goodie Outta everything. The trucks weight is 9000lbs when fuel tank is full and I'm in it.

My truck already has a flatbed, 115 gallon fuel tank, Miller welder and toolbox. I use my truck pulling fertilizer wagons, gravity flow wagons and camping trailer. I looked up the 7.3 specs for a '99 (235hp ) and a '02 (275hp ) and noticed the manual transmission have significant more power. Which one would be the best for a 2002 7.3 in a F350 with 6 speed manual transmission? My brother in law has an Edge programmer in his '99 F350 with an automatic transmission and he has his set at 130hp over stock and he's getting alot better fuel economy than he was before the programmer.
